illuminated wingu Kenda is the Swahili for Cloud Nine which is very apt as this guest house is quite close to heaven.

The house built by actor John Hurt and his wife Donna in 1987 is set in five acres of gardens and paddocks borders the famous Mount Kenya Safari Club, under the gaze of Mount Kenya.

Donna Hurt has opened her home as a bed and breakfast, at 7000ft. Above sea level on the Equator, the climate is ideal, warm sunny days and cool nights. There is an uninterrupted view of Mount Kenya and the forests, the home of buffalo, elephants, zebra and many species of antelope.

The game reserves of Samburu, Shaba, Buffalo Springs, Ol Pejeta, and the Aberdare National Park are all within a 60 mile radius. Safaris can be arranged on request.

Guests are accommodated in the main house in large double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and private verandas overlooking the swimming pool or there is the possibility to opt for a beautifully appointed studio apartment adjacent to the house for those requiring and extra degree of privacy.
Breakfast and lunch are served on the main veranda which has a spectacular view of the mountain and one is normally joined by many beautiful African birds feeding all around. Dinner is in the main dinning room.

There are many activities to keep you occupied, including the swimming pool, snooker room, table tennis, croquet, a large video collection, satellite TV and a well stocked library.
